1. Choose the height
Mounting height
Measured from the floor to the center of the light (for bathrooms, to the middle of the backplate).

2. Choose the spacing
Along a wall
In a living room, space sconces about 72 in apart. Along a hallway, you can stretch that to about 96 in. Beside a mirror or artwork, center them on it.
3. Check the depth
In walkways and halls
Where people pass, choose a sconce that projects 4 in or less from the wall. U.S. accessibility guidelines (ADA) use this limit for wall objects mounted 27–80 in above the floor.
Bathrooms and outdoors
Use a light rated for damp or wet locations. The rating is listed in the product’s Specifications.
What to measure
- Wall: width, and where doors, switches and furniture sit
- Ceiling: height from the floor
- Mirror: width, and the height of its top edge
- Walkway: width, if the sconce is in a hall
Before you order
- Exact sizes: Width, height, projection and backplate size are listed in the product’s Dimensions and Specifications.
- Junction box: Most hardwired sconces mount to a wall junction box; your electrician can confirm the position.
- Location rating: Check dry, damp or wet rating in the product’s Specifications.

On the fixture’s product page, find “Pairs well with” and select Remote-Control Dimmable Bulb.

Choose the remote bulb or the TRIAC bulb, then check out with both items.
What’s included
Each add-on includes one dimmable bulb, shipped in the same package as your light. The remote bulb comes with its own remote. If your fixture normally comes with a standard bulb, we’ll send the dimmable one instead; the standard bulb won’t be included.
Remote batteries are included with standard shipping. Orders shipped by air can’t include batteries.

Compatibility
Recommended for single-bulb fixtures up to 30″ in diameter. Larger fixtures may need more light. Not suitable for fixtures with built-in LEDs. For chandeliers or multi-bulb lights, please check with us first.
More than one light?
Each remote controls one bulb, so every remote bulb comes with its own remote. Ordering several lights? Leave a note at checkout telling us which ones need a bulb.
Add-on only
Available only with a compatible light fixture. Orders for the bulb alone may need to be adjusted or canceled.
