1. Choose the height

Lamp height

Use	Size
Living room or den	58–64 in tall
Adjustable reading lamp	50–58 in tall
Arc lamp	reaches about 50–75 in from the base

Whatever the height, the bottom of the shade should sit near your eye level when you’re seated, so you see the light, not the bulb.

2. Choose the spot

Placement

Set a reading lamp beside or slightly behind the chair arm. Check that the base fits the floor space you have.

Arc lamps

Measure from where the base will stand to the middle of the seating you want to light. If people walk under the arc, check the height under the shade in the product’s Dimensions.

What to measure

Seat: height of the sofa or chair seat and arm
Floor space: beside the seating, for the base
Reach: for an arc lamp, from the base spot to the seating

How to add it

Add a compatible light fixture to your cart.
On the fixture’s product page, find “Pairs well with” and select Remote-Control Dimmable Bulb.
Choose the remote bulb or the TRIAC bulb, then check out with both items.

What’s included

Each add-on includes one dimmable bulb, shipped in the same package as your light. The remote bulb comes with its own remote. If your fixture normally comes with a standard bulb, we’ll send the dimmable one instead; the standard bulb won’t be included.

Remote batteries are included with standard shipping. Orders shipped by air can’t include batteries.

Compatibility

Recommended for single-bulb fixtures up to 30″ in diameter. Larger fixtures may need more light. Not suitable for fixtures with built-in LEDs. For chandeliers or multi-bulb lights, please check with us first.

More than one light?

Each remote controls one bulb, so every remote bulb comes with its own remote. Ordering several lights? Leave a note at checkout telling us which ones need a bulb.

Available only with a compatible light fixture. Orders for the bulb alone may need to be adjusted or canceled.
