For linear pendants over kitchen islands and long tables. Use these guides with the length and height in the productโs Dimensions tab.
Drawn to scale under an 8 ft ceiling.
1. Choose the length
Over an island or table
Choose a fixture about 1/2 to 2/3 the length of the island or table, leaving at least 6 in beyond each end.
| Island or table length | Fixture length |
|---|---|
| 48 in | 24โ32 in |
| 60 in | 30โ40 in |
| 72 in | 36โ48 in |
| 84 in | 42โ56 in |
| 96 in | 48โ64 in |
| 108 in | 54โ72 in |
| 120 in | 60โ80 in |
Across the counter, keep the fixture at least 6 in inside each edge.
2. Check the hanging height
Over a table or island
Over a 30 in dining table, aim for 30โ36 in between the tabletop and the lowest point with an 8 ft ceiling, and add about 3 in for each extra foot of ceiling. Over a 36 in counter, aim for 30โ36 in.
| Ceiling | Dining table drop | Island drop |
|---|---|---|
| 7 ft 6 in | 24โ30 in | 18โ24 in |
| 8 ft | 30โ36 in | 24โ30 in |
| 9 ft | 39โ45 in | 36โ42 in |
| 10 ft | 48โ54 in | 48โ54 in |
| 11 ft | 57โ63 in | 60โ66 in |
| 12 ft | 66โ72 in | 72โ78 in |
| 14 ft | 84โ90 in | 96โ102 in |
Drop is measured from the ceiling to the bottom of the fixture.
